Planned power cut affects Barnsley Interchange and Rail Station
This is an archive article from 6 May 2021
If you’re travelling via Barnsley Interchange or Barnsley Rail Station this Friday 7 May, please be aware that there will be a planned power cut while Northern Powergrid carries out essential maintenance work in the town between 9am and 4pm.
Bus and train services will run normally and the Interchange and rail station will remain open. However, the power outage means customers will not be able to use ticket machines, live departure information displays, toilets, lifts or escalators while the works take place.
The ticket office at the Rail station, and all shops and vending machines both at the station and interchange will also be affected.
There will be signage informing customers of alternative routes between Barnsley Interchange and the rail station and Customer Service Ambassadors will be in place to support customers, in particular those with mobility issues.
You can check live departures online using the Journey Planner. Information on Northern Rail services is available at https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/ and the National Rail Enquiries (NRE) website will also provide live, real-time train information across all operators.
