Plan your journey

Community Transport (also known as Door 2 Door) is for people who have difficulty using or accessing mainstream public transport. We use fully accessible vehicles and will take you from your home to places round your local area - like supermarkets or town centres - without the need to get to a bus stop.

Door 2 Door Services

ShopperBus services run on a predetermined day and take people to and from a shopping location

Dial-a-Ride services run to a destination of choice.

Group Travel services are journeys booked by groups, using their own or a Community Transport driver, can consist of a whole eligible group going on a trip, or individuals picked up separately to go to one destination.

Door to door passengers

Door 2 Door services allow you to get out and about without relying on friends and family and are:

  • Really simple to use, just phone up to book
  • Cheaper than a taxi
  • A great way to meet new people and visit places you couldn’t get to on your own
  • Fully accessible

Our drivers will:

  • Pick you up from your home and take you where you want to go
  • Help you board with your shopping

Community transport services are accessible to individuals or groups who:

  • Do not have access to public transport
  • Struggle using public transport due to age, disability or sensory issues
  • Live rurally or are socially isolated, making it difficult to reach healthcare, shopping or other essential services.

Become a community transport volunteer

Community transport organisations in South Yorkshire are looking to recruit more volunteer drivers and passenger assistants.

Volunteers would transport passengers who would otherwise not be able to get out, enabling them to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle, keeping them connected and part of the community.

Through the community transport volunteer scheme, you can help to improve the quality of life to the people who need it most, and, without this service would be isolated with no other means of getting out.

Volunteering enriches your life too by creating meaningful connections, building new skills, and making a positive impact on your community.

As a volunteer driver or passenger assistant you will become part of a team that provides accessible transport services for people who have difficulty using, or are unable to use, public transport. You would be a friendly face, making a journey feel safe and welcoming.

Typical journeys include:

  • Shopping
  • Social events
  • One off trips
  • Regular weekly or monthly trips
  • Medical appointments

We welcome anyone over 21 who can commit regularly to volunteering, whether it be weekly, fortnightly, or a monthly basis. This is an opportunity to make a difference and help keep these vital services running.
