Your Next Bus text service

As more people move to using the app and website, the Your Next Bus SMS text service is now used less often.

Because newer tools provide more accurate, up-to-date information, the text message service was withdrawn at the end of June 2026.

Information about the SMS service will also be removed from bus stops and shelters across South Yorkshire.

Improving how you get travel information

We are continuing to invest in better, more reliable customer information, including:

  • Ongoing improvements to the Travel South Yorkshire app
  • Better real-time updates across the network
  • Simpler, more joined-up journey planning

These improvements are part of our wider plans for the South Yorkshire People's Network, as we move towards bus franchising from September 2027.

Your Next Bus lets you check live bus and tram departure times by text.

You can use the Your Next Bus service on the Travel South Yorkshire website to view live departures and real-time travel information.
